Day 71 - Savory Pongal (lentils)
I have no qualms in categorizing Mung dal as a lentil when I feel like it. For a vegetarian, sources of proteins are a tiny bit more limited than the omnivorous set. Pongal is the South Indian version of Khichdee, a risotto like comfort food. While the North Indian versions often include vegetables, this version relies solely upon the flavors of melted ghee, peppercorn, cumin, ginger & curry leaves.
