Day 103 - Sprout and potato chaat.

Street food in India can range all the way from Heart attacks on a plate to some rather healthy offerings. The signature 'chaats' - the term itself translates as 'to lick' in Hindi - can be made quite wholesome with the use of steamed sprouted beans and lentils. This was a Sunday afternoon snack earlier today, served up with afternoon tea, a perfect way to spend a spring afternoon. The basic ingredients here are chopped wedges of pan fried potato, steamed whole mung bean sprouts, sweet tamarind chutney & tangy green mint / cilantro chutney, topped off with diced Granny Smith apples & a sprinkling of crunchy Sev (deep fried chickpea batter).
