Day 190 - 'Dahi Alu' Chaat (Pan fried potatoes with a blend of spicy & sweet chutney and Yogurt)
This is a dish derived from a popular street food from New Delhi, chunks of boiled potatoes pan fried to a crisp, doused in cilantro/mint and date/tamarind chutneys, and slathered with whipped yogurt, a gentle dusting of finely chopped cilantro and chat masala. The final touch - a toothpick stabbed into the piece of spud at the center of the teak leaf bowl. The rest of the experience cannot be described adequately, simply because the logical side of the brain skids to a halt, allowing the right side to wallow in the magic of the flavors.
2 medium/large waxy or red potatoes, boiled, peeled and cut into wedges
Cilantro & mint chutney
Chilled whipped Yogurt as needed
Salt and Paprika to taste'
Juice of 1 lime
Toss the potatoes with the lime juice, savory & sweet chutneys as per your preference. Spoon out into a bowl, drizzle with the yogurt and sprinkle with salt and paprika. Serve warm.
