Day 146 - Grenadine Strawberry Slush
May is Strawberry season, and there's always a box of organic berries stashed away in the refrigerator. The best way to keep them for up to a week is to rinse them thoroughly in warm water with about 1/2 a cup of vinegar added. Then just dry them and pop them back into the box they came in.
This was a spontaneous slush that I cobbled together out of the blue this afternoon. The fact that I had to make a second batch for the kids got me clicking a quick photograph to post.
You need: (makes 1 serving)
4 - 5 washed and hulled strawberries
2 tablespoons grenadine syrup
1/2 teaspoon orange zest (Lemon zest would work as well)
1/2 - 2/3 cups ice cubes
Combine the berries, grenadine, zest and the ice cubes in a blender jar and blend until the ice is completely crushed. Pour out into a glass and stick a straw in it before sipping!
