Day 179 - Drupe Fruit salad
You know its summer when every grocery store is flooded with stone fruits of every kind. Technically they're supposed to be referred to as 'drupes', because of their single 'seed' enclosed in a hard shell. And yes, the groups include others that do not belong to the family that cherries, peaches & plums belong to.
I went overboard with the fruit binge last week, and served up industrial sized portions of these to the family as lunch!
This version has 3 different fruits for the sake of simplicity and color contrast. Cherries, a mix of Litchees/ Rambutans and mango nectarines (a variety of nectarines with a pale yellow peel & flesh). Topped up with home made whipped cream.
