Mar 15 - Nombu Adai

The festival of 'Karva Chauth' has pretty much been made a household word thanks to all those Cheesy Bollywood depictions, with sieves & moonlight etc. The lesser know counterpart down in South India is known as 'Karadaiya Nombu' or 'Savitri Nombu'. The food offering is always the same. A rustic steamed rice cake served up with fresh churned butter. The backstory as the world knows it is still the same.. Praying for the husband (or for young girls .. praying for a good husband), But believe me I have my own 'different' interpretation, no not disrespectful, but the gist of it is acknowledging the amazing strength and resilience of the woman in all of us.
